When Clinical Training Meets Intuitive Work: How Sarah's Background Shapes Every Session
One of the questions I'm asked most often is how my background as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and my work as a psychic medium fit together. While these paths may seem unexpected alongside one another, each has shaped the way I support women, and each has its own distinct role within my practice.
Different Skills, One Practitioner
My background as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker has given me a deep understanding of trauma, the nervous system, and the importance of creating a safe, grounded space for healing. It shaped the way I listen, the way I support others, and the care I bring to every session.
My intuitive abilities are something entirely separate. They allow me to receive information, insights, and guidance that go beyond conversation alone.
While these parts of me naturally work alongside one another, they are not the same. My clinical background informs how I hold space, while my intuitive gifts guide the messages that come through. Together, they create a unique experience that honors both compassion and intuition, while remaining clear about the purpose and boundaries of each.
What This Actually Looks Like in a Session
In practice, the clinical background mostly shows up as pacing and attunement, not content. I notice when something lands hard for a client. I know how to slow down instead of pushing through. I can tell the difference between a client who wants to sit with something and a client who's ready to move forward.
None of that makes a reading into therapy. It creates a safe container for reading and for my clients to receive what is coming through for them.
One place this combination shows up directly is Brainspotting, a service I offer separately from psychic readings. Brainspotting is a body-based technique that supports processing stored stress and difficult experiences by working with eye position and bodily sensation. It's a clinical tool, offered as its own distinct service. If you're curious specifically about Brainspotting, that's its own conversation (and its own post): what it is, how a session works, and who it tends to help.
Separate Services
While my background as a therapist has influenced the way I hold space, my intuitive sessions are a separate offering with a different purpose.
My role during a reading is to share the information and guidance that comes through with honesty, compassion, and care. I believe being clear about the intention of each service allows you to choose the support that best meets your needs.
Why This Combination Feel Supportive for Clients
For some women, knowing there is clinical training behind my intuitive work makes the experience feel more grounded and supportive, especially when a session touches on meaningful or emotional parts of their lives. My years of training have taught me how to create a safe space for reflection, connection, and growth while helping women deepen their trust in themselves.
FAQ
Does your background as an LCSW mean a reading is therapy?
No. Intuitive readings and therapy are two separate offerings within my practice. My clinical background informs the way I hold space, but a reading is designed to offer intuitive insight, reflection, and guidance—not clinical treatment. For those seeking therapeutic support, I offer Brainspotting as a separate service. Intuitive readings are not a form of diagnosis or clinical assessment. They are an opportunity to receive insight, explore patterns, and gain a deeper understanding of yourself. If something arises that would be better supported through clinical care, I will always encourage you to seek the appropriate support.
Do I need to share my mental health history before booking a reading?
No. You are welcome to share whatever feels meaningful or helpful, but a reading does not require you to disclose personal history in order to be impactful. The experience is centered around the insights and guidance that come through in the session.
Is Brainspotting included in a psychic reading?
No. Brainspotting is a separate offering with its own purpose and session structure. It is a trauma-informed modality designed to support emotional processing and nervous system regulation, and it is booked independently from intuitive sessions.
Ready When You Are
My clinical background and intuitive abilities are two meaningful parts of who I am as a practitioner. They come from different forms of training and experience, but they share a common intention: creating a space where women can feel seen, supported, and more connected to themselves.
